The team:

Why Melbourne

We chose Melbourne as the launch and scale location for Repose because it is a vibrant hub for innovation and renewable energy. The city's commitment to sustainability aligns perfectly with our mission to revolutionize the renewable energy sector through technology. Melbourne boasts a strong network of industry stakeholders, research institutions, and government support for climate initiatives, providing the ideal environment for collaboration and growth.

Moreover, Victoria's burgeoning renewable energy market—evident in projects like the 41 battery storage initiatives—represents a significant opportunity for our tailored services. With Melbourne's diverse talent pool and our co-founders' deep industry connections, we are uniquely positioned to lead the way in transforming project feasibility assessments, ensuring swift progress towards Australia’s 2030 emission targets.

Challenge

The renewable energy sector is pivotal in Australia's journey towards meeting its 2030 emission targets and we believe that technology has a crucial role to play in this transition. Currently the renewable energy project is constrained by the slow feasibility assessment, which takes a whole team 8 weeks and $20K to complete. The quality of the output is not standardised and sometimes not usable at all. By streamline the risk analysis step of the renewable energy project, we can accelerate the energy transition to meet the 2030 target.

Repose targets renewable energy developers in Australia, focusing on medium to large-scale projects ($100-$500 million) amid a rapidly growing market driven by the push for renewable energy and net-zero goals. In Victoria alone, 41 battery storage projects represent a $6.7 million feasibility market. Expanding to all Australian renewable projects, Repose's serviceable market is $219 million, with a global potential of $20 billion. Repose is well-positioned to scale through technology and network.

Solution

Repose automates and streamlines geospatial analysis for renewable energy projects, offering a significant edge over traditional consultants and GIS SaaS providers. Unlike consultants, Repose delivers consistent, high-quality reports in under three days, standardizing workflows. Compared to GIS providers like ArcGIS, Repose offers a tailored, user-friendly experience for renewable energy developers, addressing their unique needs with comprehensive functionality and better customer retention.

Repose saves 94% of time in project feasibility assessments, delivering reports in one week versus the typical 2-3 months, accelerating project progress and increasing success rates. With 70-80% of large-scale solar projects currently succeeding, Repose addresses key risks early, potentially saving $1.5M annually in sunk costs. Additionally, Repose reduces consulting fees by 75%, saving $1.4M per year, contributing to a total of $3M in annual LCOE reduction.

Result

Our team of three cofounders, each bringing complementary skill sets, is fully committed to the startup and working on it full-time. We’ve made significant progress with our primary technology, Repose, reaching Technology Readiness Level 4 (TRL 4). Our Minimum Viable Product (MVP) already includes key features such as data layers, an interactive user interface (UI), report generation capabilities, and a streamlined workflow design. Additionally, we have completed over 20 customer interviews to validate pain points and gather feedback, which has informed our product backlog and future development roadmap.

Repose's go-to-market strategy focuses on leveraging industry connections to secure the first 10 customers, using our co founders 's credibility in the Australian renewable energy sector. We’ll then target small to medium solar developers through a LinkedIn campaign, aiming for 50 customers, and partner with industry bodies like CEC to acquire 100 more. As a scalable SaaS solution, Repose ensures performance, quality, and efficiency across developers with varying demands and project parameters.
