Be The Story

The Melbourne Awards are back for their 23rd year and are now open for applications. Since 2002, the awards have provided a platform to recognise the people who make our city an inclusive, creative, and forward-thinking place we can all be proud of.

Melbourne is a thriving city thanks to its diverse and ever-evolving community of people, projects and initiatives.

Are you ready to share your story?

  • Entry is free
  • There are multiple categories including sustainability (more below)
  • Apply in one of eight key categories, each reflecting the diverse range of projects that shape our city.
  • You don’t need to live in the City of Melbourne- but your project project/initiative must directly impact the city.

Sustainability Award

This award celebrates projects or activities that create a more sustainable city through advancements in sustainable innovation and design, or the development of new sustainable projects or programs.

Examples include projects that have made positive contributions to the environment such as waste reduction, water conservation, carbon efficiencies or increased the uptake of renewable energy. Also eligible are initiatives that change community behaviour or educate, connect and inspire others.

Applications close 20 June.

our acknowledgement

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present.

We acknowledge and honor the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future.
